Fubo Raises Live Streaming TV Prices by $5, CEO Discusses Freemium Business

 

This month, Fubo, the virtual MVPD, decided to raise the prices on its three English-language streaming plans by an extra $5 per month. At an investor conference on Wednesday, Fubo's CEO, David Gandler, shared plans about expanding a freemium business model on the platform. The aim is to keep viewers engaged and boost advertising revenue.

The increased prices are already in play for new subscribers. For existing customers, the higher fees will kick in at their next billing cycle after February 1, as confirmed by a Fubo spokesperson to StreamTV Insider.

So, here's the new breakdown: Fubo's base Pro package now sits just under $80 per month, the Elite plan has gone up to $90 per month, and the Premier plan is hovering around $100 per month. Additionally, Fubo decided to raise the monthly price of a regional sports network fee by an extra $1. This fee, introduced early last year, was initially $12-$14 and applied to nearly all subscribers alongside a previous price increase. Furthermore, subscribers to a Starz add-on will now have to shell out an additional $1 per month for the network. Keep an eye on those bills!
